0747 – I was indeed up by 7am this morning… and in bed asleep by half eight last night! I think the stress of yesterday (and the realisation that we had a major gas leak) hit me later on in the day. I felt so tired. MUCH better this morning thankfully after a good night’s sleep. Just about to start proper now…
Back to work after… Continue reading

Morning all! The office clear up on Saturday has really done wonders for my positivity this morning. Monday has started as it usually does, completing a few weekly blogs for various clients. Monday seems to be the preferred day for many people when it comes to blogging; not sure if this applies to everyone or whether all my clients simply like it that way! Either way it adds some spice… Continue reading

Hi all. It’s not a day for writing today – apart from adding a short entry to my 29 Days of Online Writing series. If you read yesterday’s entry you’ll know that I managed to get all my work done in plenty of time to have the whole weekend off. That means I have no excuse for not tidying the office.
It also got me thinking about the state… Continue reading

Morning! Ok day three of my 29 Days of Online Writing, and I’d decided I deserved a lie in this morning. For me this typically means setting the alarm for 8am instead of anything between 7am and half past, so not really much of a lie in. But I’ve found I don’t write so well if I get up any later than that on a work day. I can’t help… Continue reading

0717 – It’s day two and I got up at 7am this morning to get a good start on the day. Armed with tea and toast, I am going to start by writing three short articles to complete the work due on one of our own sites before I do any client work. I know that if I get our work done first, I can relax and get on with… Continue reading

Glad you could join me at the very beginning of my new 29 Days of Online Writing blog series! Here we are on the first day of a brand new month and I’ve kicked off a VERY cold day at 8am by clearing out some emails. I responded to one or two clients, and now it’s time to start writing.
I have a tiny edit and a press release… Continue reading

It’s hard to believe it, but tomorrow is February 1st. And that means it is the first day of my month long insight into the life of an online writer. As of tomorrow I will be posting to my blog every day (except on days off, like Sundays for example) and sharing with you what I get up to during the day. I’ll show you how I find jobs, what… Continue reading

I can hardly believe it is the 28th already! It has been a testing month (leaky roof, repairs and a fall down the stairs and a bruised coccyx for my partner) but despite all that I have still managed to achieve my writing goals for the month.
I started the year with the intention of finding some new clients, and I have added 4 to my books since returning… Continue reading

Just a short post today, because I wanted to share with you what happens when you set a goal to achieve something with your writing. I set myself a goal at the beginning of January to find ONE new client via my professional website, www.allisonwhitehead.co.uk. While some clients have found me through this blog, I did create a separate site targeted purely to… Continue reading

I thought I would stray away from blogging about writing directly today in favour of blogging about my office. I’m lucky enough to have a dedicated room for writing in, although I have still been known to write in bed and even in the bath from time to time. Yep it has happened.
But I think I must have that New Year clear out bug – you know, the… Continue reading

I have had an interesting start to the New Year. I made it a goal that I would find at least one new client during January, and I’ve landed one today. But it came about in an interesting way.
Judging by the emails I get asking about how to get into online writing, it seems that most people want writing jobs to fall into their lap. Now this CAN… Continue reading

Unless you are already a writer, you might wonder what an online writer actually gets up to all day. Do we really sit and read tweets and status updates, or even visit our favourite websites when we should be working?
Working from home can definitely have its perks, and I for one wouldn’t want to work in any other way. But it doesn’t suit everyone. This is why it… Continue reading

As you’ll know if you read my previous blog post, I was fortunate enough to receive a Kindle for Christmas. This has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of writing for this particular channel. It has also made me think seriously about re-issuing a couple of my previous eBooks for the Kindle platform.
Interestingly enough I have also been hired to write a report for the Kindle market… Continue reading
