GUEST POST – Why HubPages can be very good for your bank balance! by Julie-Ann Amos
Well here we are with a watershed moment in the life of my blog – my very first guest post, by none other than Julie-Ann Amos. Julie-Ann owns her own writing business, and also has an important task over at HubPages, as you are about to find out…
Over to Julie-Ann for the article!
Writers more than anyone have lots of material unpublished as a rule. So we squirrel bits of work away all over the internet, here and there. Most writers have a profile and at least some pieces at Helium, Constant Content, Squidoo and the other familiar suspects. But do we actually earn decent income from them?
Squidoo was the first real good earner that caught mass attention. With the eBay and CafePress and Amazon capsules it gave us more income streams than, say, Helium. And now we have new kids on the block, HubPages. Are they any different?
Firstly, HubPages is far more unforgiving in terms of rankings etc. of lots of self serving links. So there are proportionally less of the “buy PRODUCT X it’s the best and PRODUCT X makes you money and PRODUCT X can be found here (at affiliate link)” style articles.
There is more poetry, fiction, opinion pieces and interesting content too. And although opinions are divided, the viewing figures stack up well. HubPages may have fewer pages but page views are higher than Squidoo, which is oodles of extra views for your Hubs, if you get them right. At HubPages you really can make a good income.
Of course, you need to do a little work:
1. Optimise all your content for good search volume, low competition and high AdSense revenue.
2. Add Amazon capsules and generate sales.
3. Add eBay capsules and make more sales.
Sounds like Squidoo? Yes, but as HubPages makes me 10x the income I’m pretty much in favour of one versus the other! I earn 4 figures a year from AdSense and more from Amazon and eBay on HubPages ALONE after one membership year. Interested? You can sign up here.
Of course, building decent traffic and a fan base isn’t instant. There are some tricks of the trade and you need to do some work promoting your Hubs with social media etc., and giving your Hubs those all-important backlinks. But, I’m part of a team at HubPages who have created a way to get people signing up to the site a cracking head start.
It’s called HubChallenge. The idea didn’t come from HubPages but from Courtney Tuttle of The Keyword Academy which has endorsed HubPages and teaches (for a fee, of course) how to maximize your learning/earning when publishing Hubs. I’m part of a team of experienced Hubbers that help people get started and join the HubChallenge. The common goal is for each person to publish 30 Hubs in 30 Days. Why 30 in 30? It’s simply that the stats show that 30 Hubs are critical mass to start earning income from HubPages.
30 in 30 days is one Hub a day (Doh!), or you can write them in a batch then publish all 30… the schedule is up to you. You can even cheat and write 30 Hubs THEN sign up to the challenge and post one a day, so whatever disasters get in your way you’re sitting pretty. It’s your timescale. The important thing is that the HubChallenge team (including me) will help and support in the Forums and if mailed individually.
Curious? Sign up now at this link – this code will ensure I’m notified of your signup as part of the HubChallenge team, and I’ll be in touch personally to see how I can help you get off to a flying start and get you plugged into the system instead of learning by trial and error (which took me WAAY too long!). I write and publish a LOT of hubs for clients too, so it’s a good line of business if you’re a writer! Yes, I get PAID to write hubs by clients, then earn income from them so long as they stay in my account! What could be better?
