That might sound like a strange question, but it’s a valid one if you want to make the most of your writing career.
I subscribe to a British writing magazine, and I have several favourite writing related websites and blogs in my favourites folder. I go to these regularly for inspiration, to cheer me up if I am having a bad day writing, to keep me up to date with what’s going on in the world of writing, and lots more reasons besides.

How much time do you spend reading about writing?
You can be a writer without doing any of these things of course, but I think it’s safe to say that the more you read about it, the more you will learn as a result. And learning means new techniques, new markets, new possibilities and new directions for your writing to go in.
This is necessarily a short post today because I have a great new e-book I need to start writing and although it’s late here I can’t wait to get started! lol See, that’s how you get when you read about writing as well as doing it.
More posts to come soon – stay tuned! And hey, don’t forget the RSS feed.

Wow am i glad i came to your blog at such an important stage in my life. Like you, i enjoy writing alot.. but im at a very early stage. I blog and generally write some articles freelance on Islamic forums, but I really want to get noticed. My main worries, since im still doing my MA degree – is to earn enough money writing. The who what where why when of trying to get into the writing field is something necessary for me to read about so I hope you pop something on your space about it!
I want to pursue writing about Islam in publications etc. and need some sort of guidance of who to contact, how, and will i get paid!
An Aspiring Writer,
Ehsan
Thank you for your response Ehsan!
I’m planning on writing more on the subject of getting started in writing very soon – I think it’s a valid point and it’s one of the hardest things to do in this field.
