Someone very kindly responded to one of my recent posts and raised the very true point that one of the hardest things to do in writing is to actually get started.
Even though I have been writing professionally for many years I have only fairly recently been able to go full time, and I credit the internet as being the major reason why I have finally been able to fulfil that particular dream.
But breaking into any new market is very difficult, and it was sheer determination that got me there in the end. I remember thinking that I would try and apply for new writing jobs every single day for as long as it took to get a foothold online. I got my first job very quickly (which turned out to be a nightmare, but it did teach me some valuable lessons) and after a few weeks I was able to start earning a regular, if small, income from online writing.
I’ll be sharing much more on this topic in the weeks to come, but I do want to say again that perseverance is the one thing that got me to where I am today. There is no reason why it can’t be the same for you.
So keep writing and keep persevering, and you WILL get there in the end!
